Are you listening?

Are you a good listener? I am convinced that it’s an art form. Listening, I mean really listening, requires great skill in concentration and even patience. To listen requires that the ears, eyes, and mind are all engaged simultaneously. Hearing what the other is saying without trying to think about what you are going to say next.

So, are you a good listener? Maybe you are from time to time. You have probably found like me that there are times that it is tough. Fatigue, allergies, and illness can hinder us. Distractions and disinterests are major roadblocks to listening. Are you listening now?

We can fully understand when we have trouble listening. But can we understand when others don’t listen? They are humans like us so it stands to reason they may have the same struggles we do.

Have you ever wondered if God was listening to you? I’m sure you’ve experienced this thought. Is God listening? Does He listen to your every prayer?
Consider for a moment that Lord has none of the limitations we know – no fatigue. God never gets a sinus attack. He has never known distraction. And amazingly there has never been one single second that He was disinterested in you.

He’s listening! Psalm 66.19 testifies “…God has listened; He has paid attention to the sound of my prayer.” Oh how wonderful, our God listens and pays attention to even us.

He’s listening right now to you. Are you listening to Him?

Always Enthusiastic,
Dr. Rusty Newman
